چکیده

This study aimed to investigate the antioxidant and hepatoprotective effects of Celtis tournefortii fruit extract (Ct) against copper-induced liver damage in rats. Thirty-two Wistar Albino rats were divided into four equal groups (n = 8): Control, Copper (Cu), + C. (Cu+Ct), (Ct). Superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), catalase (CAT) activities, (GSH) concentration, malondialdehyde (MDA), total status (TAS) oxidant (TOS) analysed tissues. Liver histopathology was also evaluated. Alanine aminotransferase lactate dehydrogenase significantly decreased Cu+Ct group compared with Cu group. Oxidative stress parameters MDA TOS increased copper administration, whereas they co-treatment GSH concentration TAS showed significant decreases administration. co-supplementation enhanced such as TAS, SOD, GPx. remarkably attenuated degenerative necrotic changes caused by oral exposure tissue may provide amelioration moderation severity toxicity. The therapeutic use exhibit protective injury treatment.

Antioxidant and protective effect of hydroalcoholic extract of Celtis australis L. on CCL4 induced liver toxicity

Several human diseases including, cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, neurodegenerative and hepatic diseases are related to destructive effect of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Antioxidants may provide a possible solution to this problem. This study was carried out to investigate the effect of hydroalcoholic extract of Celtis australis on CCl4 induced hepatotoxicity in mice.  The antioxidant activity...

The Protective Effect of Silymarin on Lipopolysaccharide-Induced Liver Toxicity in Male Wistar Rat

Background and Aims: Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) triggers production of reactive oxygen species and inflammatory cytokines. Nowadays Silybum marianum has been shown to treat liver and gall bladder disorders, especially to protect the liver against poisoning from various toxins. Therefore, we decided to evaluate the protective effect of silymarin on LPS-induced liver toxicity in male Wistar rat. M...

Protective Effect of Folic Acid against Apoptosis Induced by Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury in Rat Liver

The anti-apoptotic gene bcl-2 is located in mitochondria, but it is uncertain whether its expression affects hepatocyte survival in ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury. This experiment was designed to evaluate the role of folic acid in expression of bcl-2 in I/R in rat liver. Eighteen Wister rats were divided into sham-operated controlgroup (C) (n=6), I/R group (...

Protective Effect of Captopril against Doxorubicin-Induced Oxidative Stress in Isolated Rat Liver Mitochondria

Doxorubicin (DOX) is an anthracycline antibiotic that has been used for a long time in therapy of an array of human malignancies either alone or in combination with other cytotoxic agents. The dose-dependent cardiotoxicity of DOX significantly limits its anticancer efficacies. Oxidative stress caused by enhanced production of reactive oxygen species is an important contributor to DOX mito...

Protective Effect of Safranal against Gentamicin-Induced Nephrotoxicity in Rat

Gentamicin is an important aminoglycoside antibiotic. However its use is limited to serious and life threatening gram negative infections, because of its high nephrotoxicity potential in patients. There are reports that safranal, the active ingredient of saffron with antioxidant properties, exerts protective effect against ischemic injuries occurred by certain nephrotoxins including gentamicin....
